# How to Connect a Custom Domain to Your Booking Page

Want your booking page to live at booking.yourbusiness.com instead of a gopetai.com link? You've got it. This guide walks you through connecting your own domain — no developer needed.

### 💡 Before You Start

You'll need:

* A domain you already own (like `yourbusiness.com`) — if you don't have one yet, you can grab one from GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, Cloudflare, or any registrar you like
* Access to that domain's **DNS settings** (usually inside your registrar's dashboard)
* About 5–10 minutes, plus a little patience while DNS changes propagate (sometimes instant, sometimes up to a few hours)

Heads up: your original `gopetai.com/booking/yourbusiness` link and QR codes will **keep working** the whole time and after you connect your custom domain — so there's zero risk in trying this.

### 🚀 Step 1: Start the Connection in GoPet AI

1. Go to[ **Dashboard → Marketing → Booking Page**](https://www.gopetai.com/dashboard/marketing/booking-page)
2. Scroll to the **Custom Domain** card
3. Enter the domain you want to use (e.g. `booking.yourbusiness.com`) and click **Connect Domain**
4. GoPet AI will show you one or two DNS records to add — keep this page open, you'll need to copy these next

### 🛠️ Step 2: Add the DNS Records at Your Registrar

Every registrar calls things slightly different names, but you're looking for **DNS Management**, **DNS Settings**, or **Manage DNS**. Here's where to find it for the most common ones:

#### GoDaddy

1. Log in to GoDaddy → **My Products**
2. Find your domain → click **DNS** (or **Manage DNS**)
3. Click **Add New Record**
4. Set the **Type**, **Name/Host**, and **Value** exactly as shown in your GoPet AI dashboard
5. Save — GoDaddy usually applies changes within a few minutes

#### Namecheap

1. Log in to Namecheap → **Domain List**
2. Click **Manage** next to your domain
3. Go to the **Advanced DNS** tab
4. Click **Add New Record**
5. Match the Type, Host, and Value from GoPet AI, then save

#### Cloudflare

1. Log in to Cloudflare and select your domain
2. Go to the **DNS** tab → **Records**
3. Click **Add record**
4. Match the Type, Name, and Content/Value from GoPet AI
5. **Important:** if you're adding a CNAME record, set the proxy status to **DNS only** (grey cloud, not orange). If it stays "Proxied," GoPet AI won't be able to detect it correctly.

#### Google Domains / Squarespace Domains

1. Open your domain's settings
2. Look for **DNS** → **Custom records** (sometimes called **Manage custom records**)
3. Click **Create new record**
4. Match the Type, Host name, and Data/Value from GoPet AI, then save

#### Any other registrar

The steps are basically always the same shape: find **DNS settings** → **add a record** → match the **Type**, **Host/Name**, and **Value** exactly as shown in your GoPet AI dashboard. If you get stuck, search "\[your registrar name] add DNS record" — nearly every registrar has their own help article for this.

### ⏳ Step 3: Let It Connect

Once you've added the record(s), head back to your GoPet AI dashboard. You don't need to keep the page open or refresh — we automatically check in the background and flip the status to **Connected** once we detect it. This is usually fast (a few minutes), but DNS changes can occasionally take a few hours to fully spread across the internet.

If it's been more than a few hours and it's still showing as pending, double check:

* The record's **Type**, **Host/Name**, and **Value** match exactly what GoPet AI showed you (typos are the #1 culprit!)
* If you're on Cloudflare, the CNAME record is set to **DNS only**, not "Proxied"
* You added the record to the right domain (easy to mix up if you manage several)

Once connected, your booking page will be live at your custom domain — and your original GoPet AI link keeps working right alongside it, so nothing you've already shared needs to change.
